[Abstract]
The Year of Weight Management is an important measure taken by China to address the high incidence of chronic diseases and support the Healthy China strategy. It is also a focus of attention from all sectors of society at present. By applying research methods such as literature review and logical reasoning, and through the meso-oriented actor-network theory, this paper analyzes the mechanism, challenges and strategies of the weight management year activities. The research finds that the introduction of the Year of Weight Management is not only a concrete requirement for achieving the country’ s major strategic development goals, but also a practical need to respond to the sharp increase in the proportion of obese people in China, and more importantly, a response to the global trend of health governance transformation in the international community. Its operational mechanism is essentially a practical process led by governments at all levels, with innovative entities such as medical institutions, social organizations, and enterprises, as well as innovative elements like concepts, policies and regulations, all participating as actors. Specifically,it covers aspects such as problem presentation, benefit granting, recruitment and mobilization, and resolution of objections. At present, the Weight Management Year campaign is confronted with multiple challenges, including the weak anchoring of the implementation due to the institutional inertia, the insufficient translation synergy caused by the differentiation of subjects, and the poor translation efficiency due to the weakening of the network. In response to this, it is proposed to start from dimensions such as system improvement, subject activation and network guarantee to address the translation predicament and promote the implementation and development of the Year of Weight Management.
